The Best Thing About The Kia Sportage 2018

The Kia Sportage is renewed with a slight restyling regarding the exterior and interior design, new driving assistance systems and above all the mild hybrid offered on the most powerful turbo diesel. A car fundamental for the Korean brand that, with the latest version of early 2016, has conquered  thousands of customers . As for the style of the exterior, it was more than an update, the result of the synergistic work of the design centers of Kia in Germany, South Korea and California.

How's the Mild Hybrid Diesel? We tried on the streets  the real news of this restyling, the 2.0 CRDi 185 CV AWD, equipped with the Mild Hybrid system and equipped with an automatic eight-speed transmission. The four-cylinder diesel engine is quiet and the new 48V system offers, in addition to a reduction in consumption and emissions of about 7%, an appreciable speed when restarting the Start and Stop. The assistance of the small generator is also felt during the phases of medium and substantial power demand, while the system recovers energy during the cruise, during braking and downhill. The 8-speed automatic is smooth and fast and you can also change gear using the two steering wheel paddles.

Aesthetics and Adas updated. The bumper has been redesigned with new inserts for the fog lamps in glossy black while the typical "tiger nose" grille in the center of the front is now also available in matt black. Even more sporty is the GT Line which, thanks to the redesigned bumper, is longer than a centimeter. At the rear, the LED light clusters are thinner and show a renewed C-shaped light signature. The interior has remained essentially unchanged, excluding the new steering wheel and the new two-tone black and gray upholstery. Some driver assistance systems have been updated, increasing the sensitivity and accuracy of the radar. The Pedestrian recognition function has been added to the Forward Collision Avoidance Assist, while Lane Keeping Assist is more ready to correct the trajectory.

Engine range and equipment. The diesel range includes, in addition to the 185 hp 2.0 CRDi with Mild Hybrid system, AWD traction and automatic eight-speed or manual transmission, the 1.6 CRDi in the two 115 and 136 horsepower versions, the first available only with two-wheel drive and with mechanical gearbox, and the second with two or four-wheel drive with manual or automatic transmission DCT7. Those who prefer petrol engines can choose either the 177-horsepower 1.6 T-GDi, manual or automatic, 2WD or 4WD, or the 132-horsepower 1.6 GDi available only with two-wheel drive and with 6-speed manual transmission. All new engines meet the 6d-TEMP emission class.
