2011 will see an exciting year for Philippine Cinema. Building from the financial and creative milestones from last year’s, including the release of the first full-length CGI animation RPG: Metanoia by Star Cinema and a host of blockbusters like Si Agimat at si Enteng Kabisote. Here are 10 new movies to watch out for this year.
In The Name Of Love– stars Angel Locsin and Aga Muhlach, the theme takes on a “Dirty Dancing” approach. The film is set to be released May 2011.
Here Comes The Bride 2 – is a sequel to the successful 2010 comedy flick starring Angelica Panganiban, Eugene Domingo, and Tom Rodriguez. December last year, Tom confirmed that he will return as the husband of Angelica in the said movie.
Ikaw Ang Pag-Ibig – is a drama film with a theme that revolves around the tri-centennial celebration of the Lady of Penafrancia, the patroness of Bicol. Jomari Yllana, Marvin Agustin, Jamie Fabregas, and Eddie Garcia are billed in the drama film.
Catch Me I’m In Love – is a joint project of Viva Films and Star Cinema showcasing ABS-CBN’s matinee idol Gerald Anderson and Viva’s Pop Princess Sarah Geronimo. The movie receive a few criticism from fans for its supposedly “lame” title.
Maalaala Mo Kaya 20th Anniversary – Star Cinema is yet to reveal the featured story. MMK had its first movie version in 1994.
Ang Mundo Ni Andong Agimat – is a movie collaboration between VIVA Films and GMA Films and cast Dingdong Dantes for the lead role. It also stars Jennylen Mercado, Michael V, Paolo Contis, and Mark Herras.
Ouija: Ang Pagbangon – brings Jolina Magdangal and Judy Add Santos back on the screen together. ‘Pagbangon’ is a sequel to the 2007 horror blockbuster.
Private Benjamin – 2010 is the year for Vice Ganda and this year more projects await for the host comedian. It also stars Jimmy Santos, Malou De Guzman, Paolo Hubalde, and DJ Durano.
Temptation Island – the remake of the successful 80s movie has long been rumored but this year finally sees its release. It will showcase some of the most beautiful faces in the local entertainment industry: Marian Rivera, Angelica Panganiban, Carla Abellana, Lovi Poe, Andi Eigenmann, Pokwang, Tricia Santos, and Iya Villana.
Who’s That Girl – Luis Manzano and Anne Curtis return to the big screen on their new team up “Who’s That Girl”. Both first worked together as a love team in 2006 for the movie “All About Love”.
